Control Testing a Glucometer
7557 STUDENTS ENROLLED
The control test of the glucometer is performed to ensure to the glucometer functions correctly and provides accurate readings on which to base the client’s care and treatment.
In a healthcare setting where the glucometer is used regularly, this would most likely be done every 24 hours. In a healthcare setting where the glucometer is used infrequently, the control testing should be done before performing a blood glucose level (BGL).
If the control test result is outside manufacturer’s guidelines, refer to your organisational policy and procedure.
